Why I Chose Real Estate at 35 as a Mom of Three

From stay-at-home mom to REALTOR®, today marks the start of a brand new adventure. ✨

When I look back at my journey, it’s full of twists, pivots, and seasons that each taught me something valuable. At 18, I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted. I used to daydream about bridges and architecture. But I was focused on volleyball and being the best collegiate athlete I could be.

I’ve always been drawn to creativity. I knew I wanted to work with art in some way.

While at the University of North Texas, I explored all my options and was led down the path of an art degree focusing on interior design. But as I transferred schools while pursuing my volleyball career, my goals shifted. Eventually, I graduated with a degree in graphic design and a minor in photography from Lynn University.

My professional journey took me many places:

  • Advertising Agency in South Florida – I learned the ins and outs of marketing: design, digital campaigns, social media, print, presenting sales stats, and mapping long-term strategies.

  • Wichita Business Journal – I worked as digital editor, where I blogged, photographed, managed social media, and later stepped into the events sector—helping run the show behind the scenes.

  • Kansas Health Science University – I served as Manager of Communications, a prestigious role blending writing, strategy, and leadership.

And then came the biggest and best change—motherhood. With three kids, my priorities shifted again. I chose to stay home, focusing on my family while thanking God every day for my hardworking husband, Jordan, who has always been my rock.

But being a serial entrepreneur, I couldn’t ignore the itch to create, serve, and grow something new. After a lot of prayer and heartfelt conversations with Jordan, I realized that real estate was the path where all of my skills—communication, marketing, photography, videography, and creativity—could truly come together. These skills also allow me to uniquely serve my clients with eye-catching photos, engaging videos, and strong marketing strategies when buying or selling a home.

In August 2025, I officially signed with Heritage 1st Realty, led by Bud and Sara Cortner, two God-loving leaders who have encouraged and supported me from the very beginning. And today, on my 35th birthday, I’m proud to announce: I am a REALTOR® and I’m ready to serve you!

I founded Scho & Co. Homes with one mission: to help families like mine. Real estate gives me the freedom to continue being a stay-at-home mom—because my children will always be my top priority—while also pursuing my passion for helping families find their place in the world.

This isn’t just about houses—it’s about people, stories, and building a life you love. And I can’t wait to be a part of yours.
